The National Delivery Riders Association (Chairman Song Ki-seon) and SymVerse Labs Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Soo-hyuk) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on August 11 to strengthen the protection of delivery workers’ rights and reduce the dominance of large delivery platforms.

This agreement aims to leverage the core strengths and technologies of both parties to help delivery workers operate in a more stable and fairer environment, while also revitalizing local delivery platform ecosystems.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will work together on:

A full revamp of the Association’s official website to improve rider data tracking and policy promotion.
Building an exclusive online shopping mall for delivery workers to enhance welfare benefits.
Designing and operating a regionally based delivery service platform that reduces large platform monopolies and fosters a rider-centric ecosystem.

To ensure smooth project execution, a joint steering committee consisting of executives and working-level staff from both sides will be established. This committee will oversee the selection of cooperation projects, determine business priorities, allocate development and operational costs, and provide top-priority support for all agreed initiatives.

The agreement is expected to contribute significantly to the creation of a fair delivery ecosystem that respects delivery workers by strengthening their rights and welfare, easing platform monopolies, and establishing community-driven platforms. In anticipation of potential legislation introducing mandatory safety training, rider qualification systems, and criminal background checks, the two parties also plan to implement a blockchain-based member information management system to enhance personal data protection.

Chairman Song Ki-seon stated, “Through this MOU, we will help delivery workers be recognized not just as ‘delivery personnel,’ but as essential ‘last-mile logistics professionals’ in their communities. We will do our utmost to create systems and environments where riders can maintain a stable livelihood and work safely.”

CEO Choi Soo-hyuk added, “Through this partnership, SymVerse Labs will demonstrate that technology can go beyond improving efficiency to protecting rights and building trust. With blockchain-based member information management and fair platform operations, we aim to set a new standard for the delivery industry”.
